Born in Chicago 1962, Doroshenko, a curator, writer, and lecturer on art, is executive director of the Dallas Contemporary, a non-collecting museum devoted to artists and ideas from the Texas region and around the world. Doroshenko has been president and artistic director of the Pinchuk Art Centre, Kiev, and he has served in curatorial roles in numerous institutions in Europe and the United States. His exhibitions have included the works of Andreas Gursky, Juergen Teller, Sam Taylor Wood, Maurizio Cattelan and many internationally acclaimed and emerging artists.

Droshenko was commissioner of the Ukrainian Pavilion at the 2012 Venice Biennale. In 2002, he received of the Chevalier of the Order of Arts and Letters from France for his service to the arts.
